“A tribute to the only male river in India – Namami Brahmaputra”
Yes, I am talking about India’s biggest river festival being celebrated across 21 districts of Assam for five days. Brahmaputra’s rejuvenating splashes has deep rooted influence in Assam’s culture and lifestyle and its countless blessings can be never forgotten. This is an initiative by the visionary leader Sh. Sarbananda Sonowal, Chief Minister of Assam, for putting forward Assam’s tremendous potential as a state brimming with trade, tourism and culture opportunities to the entire nation.
On March 31, 2017 at the riverfront of Bharalumukh, Guwahati- land of Kamakhya Temple being one of the most important and popular Shakti-peethas in India., the event started off by the grand opening. The event is a fusion of colourful attractions like indigenous sports, local food, exhibition of organic tea, display of handloom& handicrafts, cultural evenings, film festival, business meetings and symposium among others with due veneration to river Brahmaputra. These five days of epic celebration has brought along business, fun and festivities for all irrespective of age, gender etc. This perennial river presenting incredible business opportunities would be one of the major drivers of economic development and prosperity, NW 2 and NW16 are such examples. In fact as per India’s Act East Policy, National Waterways 2 (NW-2) from Dhubri to Sadiya can serve as the main viaduct driving economic progress in Southeast Asian markets while making Assam as the centre of India- Asean collaboration and attracting major investments globally. The ecstatic river cruise experience on Brahmaputra leaves behind perfect ride of luxury, delight and comfort which can be further heightened by watching migratory birds, visiting temples, tribal villages, monasteries, touring breathtaking tea estates and more. For adventure freaks, tributaries like Manas, Jia Bharali and Kopili will be ideal for white water rafting. All in one it can be well concluded that “Namami Brahmaputra” represents Assam’s rich trade, tourism and cultural aspects, calling for togetherness in exploring its soul. 🙂
