Editor’s E- Note

Before I begin my first editorial note, an acknowledgement to the former team and team mentor, Prof. Sadhana Ghalsasi for enthusiastically and earnestly handling team Reflections.

Greetings to all the readers! God is great and  by His grace it’s been a wonderful journey for me in SCIT which began in the year 2013!  The year “2014”- began as an eventful year and it continues to be eventful with SCIT’s very own magazine “REFLECTIONS” going live for the first time. It sure is my pleasure to unfold and unravel all the happenings here at SCIT live and since the entire Team Reflections was working very hard and enthusiastically for this online version, we bring you the buzz on campus for the months of June, July, August and September. I urge all the readers to keep reading the latest news which will keep uploading here. We shall be bringing you SCIT’s latest news to keep up with the pace.

Here’s a lookout on our interesting sections!

SIP (Summer Internship Projects)
Every year a new batch steps in and things start falling in place. New enthusiasm, new spirit, new experience and a new hope all gets a head start. This year too, the “2013-2015” batch students returned from their internship project experience with great enthusiasm and a good knowledge base which they are now ready to share with their peers. We are pleased to bring you such interesting internship experiences in the SIP section.

SCIT Happenings

The students who were then juniors prior to the publication of this issue, have now moved on with a greater responsibility and confidence to take on as the seniors and help nurture their juniors. So, here comes the question, “Juniors?” “Who would they be?”, “How would they be?”, “Would they mingle well?” … numerous such questions kept ringing the minds of all the faculty members, staff and of course the new seniors. The SNAP process successfully conducted, brought in a new enthusiastic batch “2014-2016” in the SCIT family. This batch highlighted their uniqueness by showcasing their talent in the most happening and most awaited event, “SAMAARAMBH” and we bring you its details in this section. This event definitely gave a confidence to all the SCITians that the baton has been successfully passed on.

Another happening event for the month of July was the “Integrity and Ethics conference jointly organized by SCIT, IBM and Caux”. We bring you some insights from the same.

The most awaited 15th  National Seminar State of IT 2014 was held on the 27th of September, 2014 and has been a historic moment for SCIT with the Panel discussions and Guest Speakers throwing light on the topic of “Mobile Device Diversity, Empowerment or End of Privacy?”

The festive season of Navraatri and its celebrations have also been covered!

Gupshup

This special section includes candid conversations with the Alumni, Faculty members and Guests. The lighter side of their personalities is what all the students in SCIT look forward to. This time we have the featured candid conversations with our very own alumnus Mr. Varun Mankodi,  our faculty member  Prof. Pradnya Purandare and our esteemed guest during the 15th National Seminar Sate of IT 2014, Mr. K. K. Mookhey who is the Principal Consultant and Founder at Network Intelligence.

Contributions

Our team of correspondents, students and faculty members alike are invited to send in their contributions in the form of articles, poems and the like.

Apart from these, there are a few more upcoming sections and I request all the readers to look forward to the same.

This online edition is special in its way since it now comprises the experiences and expertise of a new team (including me!) and I am happy to present the same.
