Few years ago, pursuing MBA was just a dream for many of the young aspiring minds. We often mumble that technology is changing rapidly within a blink of an eye but we are clueless with a huge number of people who are acing for MBA, for better life, better degree and so on and so forth. What I intend to say is, a lot of students across India, are willing to explore more challenging and creative environment than any other time today.

As the demand for higher education is rising to the peak, a large number of educational institutions are coming up with their respective colleges and offering courses for MBA. There are now 5000+ B-Schools in India itself. Having said that, the good news is that people are willing to educate themselves and become more civilised, giving us a food for thought, i.e. what exactly is the main reason of attraction towards this course? Is it solely gaining knowledge of managerial skills or do the hefty packages offered to post grads after MBA drive the zeal to pursue it?
Well, to begin with, this is a debatable topic. Every single student has put in his own efforts and does a lot of planning and analysis before taking his/her decision and everyone is pretty well aware of what he/she wants to do.
“Educationists should build the capacities of the spirit of Inquiry, Creativity, Entrepreneurial and Moral Leadership among students and become their role model” -A.P.J. Abdul Kalam
Some say that doing MBA is not favourable as they are of the thought that managerial skills are something that can’t be taught but it is to be developed over the years in organisation with practical experiences. One best example for this is Arundhati Bhattacharya, CEO SBI, who started as PO in SBI and didn’t have any MBA degree. People on the other side of the table say, that skills like Accountancy, Finance, Decision making do require proper guidance and training and hence MBA plays a vital role.
Being considerate to both the sides, no doubt MBA is one of the well reputed post graduation course and pursuing this, will take our career forward and give us a good position that we are aiming for. Having drilled the search engines and getting into good colleges should not make us worry about salaries we are being paid after, but taking good advantage of the resources available to us must be our right priority and that’s the way we should head for!
