The much awaited event Enigma’16 held at Symbiosis Centre for Information Technology on 3rd September 2016 in association with Data Security Council of India(Pune) commenced with the lighting of the lamp followed by a welcome address by our Hon. Dir. Dr. Dhanya Pramod who highlighted the significance of Information security in this technological age. Dr. Arvind Tilak who heads the Pune chapter of DSCI shared his vision of securing the cyberspace of Pune thereby turning it into a security hub.
The first panel discussion was held on a very interesting concept titled-Secure By Design. The panellist were Adv. Vaishali Bhagat(Expert, Cyber Law) Prashant Pathak( CEO Valency Networks), Partap Roy(Co-Founder BizKonnect), Mohammed Ameen(IT Head(India) Kimberly Clark), Scott Tucker(President Aptegra LLC). It was adeptly moderated by Mr. Debashish Pramanik. The panellists carefully traversed issues like information security, privacy, cyberbullying, non-compliance and how to mitigate these at the root level i.e. at the design level.
An interactive session with the key-note speaker Mr. Kiran Deshpande where he stressed the importance of budgeting towards security in an enterprise. He also discussed the association of DSCI and TIE which together provide a platform for students to pursue entrepreneurship in security. He was very hopeful about the scope of Information security domain in the coming years.
The day had much in store for the participants with events like Operation Blackout, BiznITi, Crypt-o-clash etc. These events were designed to be both engaging and informative for the participants as well as the audience.
The second panel discussion was held on the trending topic-How to start a start up. . Panelists included prominent investors, sales and marketing professionals like Dr. Arvind Tilak, Mr. Partap Roy, Mr. Debashish Pramanik and Mr. Sanjay Kanvinde. Mr. Sanjay Kanvinde shared the pros and cons of information security based on his own experiences following, Mr. Roy shared his entrepreneurial journey and Mr. Pramanik highlighted the various phases a Start-up goes through in its initial years. Mr. Arvind Tilak answered the question preying on every young investors mind, “What is it about any company that excites an investor?” The panellists also shared why Pune would be the ideal place for a start-up to grow. The day concluded with a Thank You note by Mr. Debashish Pramanik. The events and panel discussions provided valuable information and food for thought to all the participants, audience and panelists themselves which would certainly influence their choices in the field of information security in future.
